THE PALACE FESTIVAL
An invitation to the Palace Festival in Piotrowice Nyskie, Poland, provided an opportunity to build an extended-reality experience in an unusual location.
This responsive project utilised the arches and raised walkway of disused pig barn in an ancient Bishop’s palace, and overlaid an interactive weather system onto the architectural forms already in the space. The user could activate elements of this weather system by moving through the space, and elements of the structure also altered in response to the user, including the floor on either side of the walkway falling away to make room for emerging clouds.
The entire project was conceived, built, and exhibited on site in the space of a day, based on a photogrammetric model of the building, and utilising the Unity engine with a HP mixed reality headset.
